After walking up and down the beaches of the Oregon coast under cloudy and hazy skies for over a week, I had to get creative photographically. Many people say, "it's just a pile of rocks... I could take that picture." That is true, you may be able to... if you had as much down time as I did during this long, slow week. The problem with compositions such as these, as any photographer knows, is that they are not easy by any means. I searched for hours looking for a place where all the rocks were relatively the same shape, where all the rocks were colorful, where all the rocks were isolated away from leaves, sand and sticks, where all the rocks won't have water running over them during the long exposure, where all the rocks don't have harsh light on them, where all the rocks don't have flat light on them, where all the rocks do have contrasty light on them, where all the rocks are plentiful enough to yield to this wide angle composition, where all the rocks are... I think you get the point. So if you know what to look for, have the time to do this and are lucky enough to find such a pile of rocks, then yeah... you could take this picture too.
