Crater Lake is strikingly similar to where I grew up in the Sierra Nevada except for one small thing... THE SNOW! Crater Lake literally had more snow in the summer than we did in the Sierras during the dead of winter. I had been driving over the highest passes in California for quite some time so I assumed that on my "summer" trip to Oregon that all their passes would be open as well. You could imagine my surprise when at the gate to Crater Lake a sign read "Road Closed" It was the end of June and their the snow was still stacked higher than it ever was that winter in the Sierra.
