I've always thought that the San Francisco bay area is an outdoors man's metropolitan. Where else are you literally surrounded by mountains, redwood forests, sea stacks, rolling hills and waterfalls all a stones throw from one of the largest cities in the country. I was blessed to be raised and spend most of my life in this "best of both worlds" region. This beach is one of my favorite in the city. After a short yet strenuous hike through brush and tall trees, you pop out on this beach that looks out over the Pacific Ocean on one side, the Marin Headlands to the other and the Golden Gate bridge there as a monument to mans strength and determination. The elements that make up this image, the metropolitan symbol of the west above the crashing waves below the coastal range all bathed in late afternoon light truly express what it is I love about this place.
