Storm Curtain Location: Yosemite, Ca Field Notes: Canon EOS 1, 200mm 1/1 sec @ f/32 ISO 100 ____________________________________________ After spending a week on the diving board, a small outcropping below Half Dome, waiting out a storm, I finally had a chance to make it back down to the valley floor between storms. Luckily I made it down just before the next storm hit. While heading towards the Merced Grove just before sunset, I pulled over at the tunnel view and watched the clouds roll in the valley gates. The clouds felt like they were rite there in front of me. So close I felt like I could reach out and touch them. So naturally i grabbed my camera and lined up in the line of photographers there that seem to never go away. I jumped over the barrier, walked down the hill and began shooting from a small area below the parking lot. As the sun went down, I watched the clouds roll in the valley and waited for the perfect moment where they framed Yosemite’s most iconic rock, Half Dome. Exactly where I had spent the last week waiting miserably through cold and snow for a shot that would never come. Little did I know, I didn’t have to spend a week in a tent for the picture, but the picture would come when the trip was over.
