Pink Sunset Location: Tuolumne Meadows, Ca Field Notes: Canon EOS 1, 17mm 10 sec @ f/22 ISO 100 ____________________________________________ The summer sunsets in the Yosemite high country often show off some impressive and rare colors. During the summer of 2006 there was about a week that I could be found in Tuolumne meadows every evening. I would leave work, drive the 2 hours from my home and arrive just before sunset. For every day that week I would find where I wanted to be, set up and wait for a sunset and everyday either there would be no clouds, there would be too many clouds or the light would go flat and the sky would turn gray. So I would pack up and drive home dissapointed. While at work one day I noticed large clouds rolling in from the east so I decided to head back to Tuolumne meadows and hope for some good light. I invited my friend Pat to join me on this trip. When Pat and I arrived at Tuolumne meadows I was happy to see some big clouds above and it being clear on the western horizon... perfect for alpenglow. As Pat left to go on a trail run I headed out to find a new location. It was a windy afternoon so I looked for a small part of the flooded meadow where the water was still and I happened upon this water which was still as glass and reflected like a mirror. Perfect!
